The research unit in Agro-food Economics which
includes the scientific disciplinary group AGR/01 deals with research on
agricultural and agro-food sectors, concerning both enterprise and productive
sectors analysis, and broader topics on rural local development and economic
and environmental policies.

Agro-food sector
The research area deals with agro-food sector
organi z s ation and
development (olive oil, wine and products of internal and mountain areas).It concerns also with agro-food enterprise
marketing research (quantitative analysis of agro-food markets dynamics,
customer satisfaction, relationship marketing, valorisation of typical food
products in Italy and abroad) and agricultural enterprise analysis, namely
accounting and farm management analysis, use of linear programming (farm
management optimization, risk analysis, sustainable management of irrigation),
development of simulation models (business games, farm simulation models
incorporating UE policy changes and environmental aspects).
Economic policies and
Rural development
The research area includes different topics
on economic policies and rural development, with particular reference to:
- Economic planning for rural
development, with emphasis to protected areas; social and economic impact of
eco-tourism on the rural development and the local communities both in
developed and undeveloped countries; relationship between economic and
territorial planning;
- Impact analysis and evaluation
of policies for agriculture and rural areas (also through Input-Output
Analysis);
- Zoning of regional agricultures
by multivariate analysis;
- Multifunctionality and
diversification in agriculture, the new concept of rurality and the rural-urban
relationship.
