The hexahedron is the symbol of Teramo University; in its two
faces there is the reproduction of the ancient and modern town.
The symbol is linked to the “Civitas Aprutiensis” that
for centuries has identified geographically, ethnically, administrative
and culturally the Teramo territory.
A reality that is represented and synthesized by Jacobello del
Fiore in the central table of the Polyptich preserved in the
Cathedral of Teramo.
The modern town is set next to the “terra vetus” of
Jacobello.
The “Y” that divides and joins them is a graphic
element that is characteristic in Jacobello’s work but
it is also a possible way to synthesize a town that far ever
since is contained and circumscribed by two confluent rivers,
as the etymon says “interamnia” and according to
consolidated tradition, it gives rise to the word Teramo.
A geometric regular solid like the logo cube, symbol that simplifies
and introduces innovations into usual academy forms, it is really
suitable to represent a young athenaeum like Teramo University.
