How to apply

To be admitted to a degree programme at the University of Teramo, all international students must meet the following academic and language requirements.

Years of prior education

Bachelor's and single-cycle degree programmes require at least 12 years of prior schooling. Master's degree programmes require a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) plus a minimum of 15 years of schooling overall.

Where the national school system provides fewer than 12 years of education, applicants must provide evidence of one of the following: completion of 1–2 years of academic studies (with transcript of records); a post-secondary qualification from a non-university institution; or a Foundation Course certificate issued by an Italian university.

Italian language requirement (for programmes taught in Italian)

A minimum level of B2 (CEFR) in Italian is required, certified by the date of enrolment. Accepted certificates: PLIDA, CILS, CELI, Certit, Cecol. Applicants who do not hold one of the above must sit a language proficiency test administered by UniTe. Test dates and procedures are published on the webpage of the relevant degree programme. For ministerial exemptions, refer to the Universitaly.

English language requirement (for programmes taught in English)

A minimum level of B2 (CEFR) in English is required, certified by the date of enrolment. Accepted certifications: Cambridge English Language Assessment, City and Guilds (Pitman), Edexcel/Pearson, IELTS, TOEFL, ETS, TCL, LanguageCert. The following applicants are exempt from submitting a language certificate: native English speakers; students who obtained their qualifying diploma or degree in English — in this case, an English Proficiency Letter or Medium of Instruction (MOI) document issued by the awarding institution is required.

EU citizens and non-EU citizens residing in Italy with a valid residence permit may apply directly to the University of Teramo. The Single-Cycle Degree in Veterinary Medicine follows a specific national procedure. The admission process consists of the following steps:

1. Registration on UniTE Online Secretariat and upload of the required documentation;
2. Verification of academic qualifications by the Department Secretariat (Master's programmes only);
3. Registration for and passing of the admission test (Master's programmes only);
4. Verification of Italian language proficiency by the Department Committee (for programmes taught in Italian);
5. Completion of the enrolment application;
6. Assignment of a student identification number.

Non-EU students residing abroad must follow a structured admission process.

Step 1 – Application submission
Candidates must complete the online application form specific to each degree programme and upload all required documents. The application form for each programme is available in the table below. Mandatory documents:

• Passport main page
• High school diploma (or equivalent) for Bachelor's programmes
• High school diploma (or equivalent) and degree certificate for Master's programmes
• Transcript of records
• English certificate or Medium of Instruction (MOI) certificate
• Syllabus (recommended for Master's programmes)

Step 2 – Document Verification
The International Welcome Service verifies the completeness of the documentation, the validity of the foreign qualification, and compliance with all academic and language requirements. For Bachelor's programmes, applicants receive a letter of acceptance, conditional acceptance, or non-acceptance. For Master's programmes, eligible candidates are forwarded to the Degree Programme Director, who communicates the admission test procedures by email. For Bachelor's and single-cycle programmes, a pre-assessment test is required but not mandatory before enrolment. For Master's programmes, a positive pre-assessment test is mandatory.

Step 3 – Language Proficiency Test (for Italian-taught programmes only)
The Departmental Committee organises language proficiency tests where necessary.

Step 4 – Pre-enrolment on Universitaly and Visa Request
Candidates must register on the Universitaly portal for the current academic year, complete the pre-enrolment application, and wait for University validation. Once validated, they must apply for a study visa at the Italian diplomatic-consular representation in their country. The Embassy may request a Letter of Pre-acceptance. Students can monitor their visa status through the Universitaly portal.

Step 5 – Applying for an Entry Visa
To obtain a study Visa, applicants must demonstrate: sufficient financial means of support (€10,179.85 per year); suitable accommodation in Italy; adequate health insurance. Please note that fingerprint collection is mandatory for national visas from 11 January 2025.

Step 6 – Enrolment Procedure at UniTe 
After obtaining the Visa, students must register on UniTE Online Secretariat, activate their university credentials, and pay fees within the established deadlines. The International Welcome Service supports students throughout the registration process.
