ISTRUZIONE E FORMAZIONE

 

Marcello Mascini ha due lauree, in Chimica e in Geologia, conseguite presso l'Università di Roma. 

Nel 2003, M. Mascini ottiene il PhD presso l'Institute of Bioscience and Technology, University of Cranfield (UK), con i tutors Prof. P. Warner e Prof. B. Chen, svolgendo una ricerca dal titolo "DNA and peptide sensors in food and environmental applications".

Nel 2006 M. Macini, e' all'interno del 12% dei ricercatori europei scelti nell'ambito del Sixth European Framework Programme (Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowships) per svolgere una borsa di post-dottorato dal titolo "Biomimetic Sensors Design For Foodborne Pathogens Detection: A Mixed Computational And Experimental Approach" in collaborazione con il gruppo di ricerca del Prof. Guilbault University of Cork, (Ireland).

Nel 2015 M. Mascini e’ stato selezionato dal programma europeo Horizon 2020 European Programme per partecipare al progetto “A new generation of AptaSensors” in collaborazione con il Prof G. Pingarron, Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), e il Prof J. Wang, The Regents of the University of California, U.C. San Diego (USA).

 

ESPERIENZA PROFESSIONALE

 

Dal 1998 al 2000 lavora presso la raffineria di Gela (AGIP) nel settore remediation and prevention technology.

dal 2000 al 2004 lavora come tecnico laureato presso l'Università di Teramo nella sezione di Chimica, Biochimica e Biologia Molecolare del Prof. Cozzani.

Dal 2005 diventa ricercatore nel settore scientifico disciplinare Chim01/A "chimica analitica" presso l'Università di Teramo Facoltà di Agraria.

Dal 2006 al 2007 lavora con il gruppo del Prof Guilbault presso la University of Cork, (Ireland) come experienced researcher.

Dal 2009 al 2012 è Coordinatore di due progetti europei IRSES nell’ambito del Seventh European Framework Programme.

Nel 2013 M. Mascini consegue l'abilitazione scientifica nazionale a professore di II fascia nel settore concorsuale 03/A1.

Nel 2016 lavora come visiting researcher presso il gruppo del Prof. Joseph Wang (University of California San Diego, USA), e nel 2017 presso il gruppo della Prof. Sylvia Daunert (University of Miami, USA), sempre come visiting researcher.

Nel 2019 M. Mascini prende servizio come professore di II fascia nel settore concorsuale 03/A1.

 

VALUTAZIONE DELLE PUBBLICAZIONI SCIENTIFICHE

 

M. Mascini e' co-autore di oltre 70 pubblicazioni (60% come corresponding author) su riviste internazionali (peer-reviewed) con un Impact Factor medio di 3.2. L' area di ricerca riguarda lo sviluppo di metodi rapidi di screening per la determinazione di analiti di interesse alimentare ed ambientale, in particolare applicando nuove metodiche di molecular modeling per la razionalizzazione di trappole biomimetiche.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

 

Marcello Mascini has earned two degrees from the University of Rome (Italy), in Chemistry and in Geology.

In 2003 M. Mascini obtained his PhD from the Institute of Bioscience and Technology, University of Cranfield (UK) supervised by Prof. P. Warner e Prof. B. Chen with the project "DNA and peptide sensors in food and environmental applications".

In 2006 M. Mascini was selected for a postdoctoral fellowship within the 12% of the European researchers founded by the Sixth European Framework Programme 2002-Mobility-5 (Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowships) with the project "Biomimetic Sensors Design For Foodborne Pathogens Detection: A Mixed Computational And Experimental Approach" supervised by Prof G. Guilbault University College Cork (Ireland).

In 2015, founded by the European Programme Horizon 2020, M. Mascini participated to the project “A new generation of AptaSensors” in collaboration with Prof G. Pingarron, Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), and Prof J. Wang, The Regents of the University of California, U.C. San Diego (USA).

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

 

From 1998 to 2000 he worked in the Refinery of Gela (Italy) in the remediation and prevention technology (AGIP Company).

From the 2000 to the 2004 he worked as Research Assistant in the research groups of Prof. Cozzani and Prof. Compagnone (University of Teramo, Italy).

From the 2005 he became permanent assistant professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Teramo.

From 2006 to 2007 M. Mascini worked within the group of Prof. Guilbault at the University of Cork (Ireland), as experienced researcher.

From 2009 to 2012 M. Mascini was the Coordinator of two IRSES projects within the Seventh European Framework Programme.

In 2013 it was conferred to M. Mascini the tile of the national scientific habilitation as an associate professor.

In 2016 he worked with the group of Prof. Joseph Wang at the University of California San Diego (USA), as visiting researcher and in 2017 with the group of Prof. Sylvia Daunert at the University of Miami (USA), again as visiting researcher.

In 2019 M. Mascini started to work as associate professor in analytical chemistry at University of Teramo Faculty of Bioscience.

 

OVERALL IMPACT OF THE SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION

 

In his academic career M. Mascini has published more than 70 papers (60% as corresponding author) on international scientific journals (peer-reviewed) with an average Impact Factor of 3.2.

He actively participates in national and international scientific meetings with more than 100 posters or oral presentations (abstracts). For details please go to the section "Scientific Meetings". 

M. Mascini research area was focused on the development of screening methods for fast and real time detection of analytes important for food and environmental analysis. The research interests were with a particular focus on new methods to develop bio-inspired and bio-mimetic systems in analytical application using molecular modeling.
