Laurea in Scienze Ambientali presso l'Università degli Studi di L'Aquila nell'anno accademico 1998-1999;

Dottorato di Ricerca in Biochimica e Biologia Molecolare con una tesi dal titolo "The endocannabinoid system in Parkinson's disease and its interaction with dopaminergic transmission" presso l'Università degli Studi di Roma "Tor Vergata" nel 2004;

Post-doctoral Fellow con un progetto su "Endocannabinoids and Inflammation" presso il Dipartimento di Farmacologia dell' Università della California, Irvine (U.S.A.) nel 2005-2006;

Ricercatore in Biofisica (SSD FIS/07) presso l'Università degli Studi di Teramo nel 2005-2015.

Attività didattica:
E' titolare dell'insegnamento di Biochimica del Metabolismo (6 CFU) presso il Corso di Laurea in Biotecnologie.

E' titolare dell'insegnamento di Biochimica della Comunicazione Cellulare (6 CFU) presso il Corso di Laurea Magistrale in Biotecnologie Avanzate.

Interessi Scientifici:

·  Attività anti-ossidante ed anti-infiammatoria di alimenti funzionali in modelli cellulari;

·  Analisi di composti naturali (ad es. nutraceutici, lipidi bioattivi, ecc.) e delle vie metaboliche che li producono in alimenti di origine animale e vegetale;

·  Biochimica dei lipidi, di enzimi metabolici e di recettori coinvolti in processi fisiologici ed in patologie infiammatorie, neurodegenerative e tumorali;

·  Studio degli effetti di lipidi bioattivi e nutraceutici sui meccanismi molecolari alla base degli eventi riproduttivi;

·  Biochimica del differenziamento di cellule staminali e studio di lipidi nella morte cellulare programmata in condizioni di microgravità.

 
Riconoscimenti

Nel 2017 ha ricevuto lo “SpaceX Falcon 9 CRS-12 Mission Award”, rilasciato dalla National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).Nel 2011 ha ricevuto il Premio Marisa Bellisario come Giovane Talento della Ricerca d'Eccellenza Italiana.

Nel 2008 ha ricevuto il "BIO#4 Mission Team Achievement Award" dalla European Space Agency, per l'esperimento ROALD ospitato a bordo della International Space Station.
Nel 2004 ha ricevuto il "Student Merit Award" ed il "Student Travel Award" al Congresso internazionale della International Cannabinoid Research Society: Paestum (SA): Poster Presentation, Annual Meeting 2004 -
Nel 1999 è stata selezionata per partecipare all' Environmental Management Course organizzato dal Network for Environmental Project in Technology, UNited in Europe in Fachhochschule Braunschweig, Università di Wolfsburg, Germania.

MS in Environmental Sciences at the University of L'Aquila, Italy; Ph.D.degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, at the School of Medicine, University of Rome "Tor Vergata", Italy; Post-doctoral Fellow at the Department of Pharmacology, University of California, Irvine; Assistant Professor in Biophysics, University of Teramo 2005-2015.

Scientific interests:

·  Anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of functional foods in in vitro models;

·  Biochemistry of bioactive lipids involved in inflammatory,  neurodegenerative and reproductive processes;

·  Biochemistry of stem cells differentiation and Gravitational effects on enzyme reactions, membranes and lipid messengers in programmed cell death.

 

Honours:

 

Principal Investigator (P.I ) of the project “Il mondo Biotech tra molecole, cellule e alimenti” - Piano Lauree Scientifiche 2014 – 2016 granted by MIUR.

 

Co-Investigator of the project SERiSM, selected by Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI DC-MIC-2012-024). that will fly to ISS during next mission ISS Increment 51-52 .

 

Principal Investigator (P.I.) of the project "Role of the Endocannabinoid System in human Lymphocytes Exposed to Microgravity", selected by ESA (ILSRA-2009 Grant) flown on Soyuz29S-ISS-Soyuz28S in December 2011.

Co-Principal Investigator (P.I.) of the project "Role of programmed cell death (apoptosis) in the depression of human T lymphocytes activation in microgravity", selected by NASA and ESA and flown on Soyuz17S-ISS-Shuttle ULF-2 during the BIO4 mission (October 2008).

 

Awarded the "Marisa Bellisario Award" as Young Talent for the Excellence in the Italian Research.

 

Awarded the "BIO#4 Mission Team Achievement Award" by the European Space Agency, for the ROALD experiment flown on the International Space Station (2008).
