Curriculum english version
After the Laurea degree in Chemical Engineering obtained at the University of L'Aquila, he spent several years at the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering of the University College London, at the "Laser Centre" of "The Welding Institute" at Cambridge (GB) and at the Ecole Europeenne des Hautes Etudes des Industries Chimiques de Strasbourg. From this last institution he awarded the European PhD in Chemistry. He taught the courses of Industrial Catalysis, Chemical Reactors and Industrial Chemistry at the Chemical Enginnering Faculty of the University of L'Aquila. From february 2000 is Associated Professor at the Agricultural Faculty of the University of Teramo teaching several courses. He also has been nominated "Professeur Invité" at the Ecole de Chimie, Polymeres et Materiaux of the University of Strasbourg. From december 2006 to august 2008 he has been IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) Commision member's of the Italian Ministry of Environment. Prof. Rapagnà founded in 2006 the Energy and Environmental Research Unit at the University of Teramo. The main aim of the research activities is to promote the use of biomasse and agricultural residue as an alternative renewable energy sources to produce electricity, hydrogen and syn-gas. He has been involved in many european research projects such as : JOR3-CT95-0037 " Production of hydrogen rich gas by biomass gasification: application to small scale, fuel cell electricity generation in rural areas", JOR3-CT97-0196 "Hydrogen-rich gas from biomass steam gasification", ENK5-CT2000-00314 " Biomass-gasification and fuel-cell coupling via high-temperature gas clean-up for decentralised electricity generation with improved efficiency -CLEAN ENERGY FROM BIOMASS", "Integration of particulate abatement, removal of trace elements and tar reforming in one biomass steam gasification reactor yielding high purity syngas for efficient CHP and power plants"- UNIQUE and UNIQUE Gasifier for Hydrogen Production - UNIfHY. He has been the director of the joint Doctoral Thesis between the University of Teramo and the Paul Verlaine University - Metz PhD having title: "Synthesis gas production by continuous biomass (Miscanthus) gasification in fluidized and circulating bed reactors. Chemical characterization of the heavy organic compounds produced during the gasification process." The thesis has been financed by the French- Italian University under the Vinci programme in the area of "Sustainable development, alternative and renewable energies".
Participates with its research unit in two projects funded by the EU on 31 May 2018 and 22 November 2018 respectively: involves the universities of L'Aquila, Teramo, Guglielmo Marconi, the Ecole Polytecnique Federal of Lausanne ( CH), the companies HTceramix SA (CH), Hygearbv (NL), Walter Tosto (IT), ENEA (I), Vertech Group (CH) the European Biomass Industry association (BE), Eqtec Iberia (ES).
Prof. Rapagnà is the coordinator of the "Inter-university Research Centre on Biomass for Energy" (CIRBE) between the Universities of L'Aquila, Padova and Teramo.
