ISTRUZIONE E FORMAZIONE
M. Mascini ha due lauree, in Chimica e in Geologia, conseguite presso l'Università di Roma.
M. Mascini ha ottenuto il PhD presso l'Institute of Bioscience and Technology, University of Cranfield (UK), con i tutors Prof. P. Warner e Prof. B. Chen, svolgendo una ricerca dal titolo "DNA and peptide sensors in food and environmental applications".
Nel 2006 M. Mascini, e' all'interno del 12% dei ricercatori europei scelti nell'ambito del Sixth European Framework Programme (Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowships) per svolgere una borsa di post-dottorato dal titolo "Biomimetic Sensors Design For Foodborne Pathogens Detection: A Mixed Computational And Experimental Approach" in collaborazione con il gruppo di ricerca del Prof. Guilbault University of Cork, (Ireland).
Nel 2015 M. Mascini e’ stato selezionato dal programma europeo Horizon 2020 European Programme per partecipare al progetto “A new generation of AptaSensors” in collaborazione con il Prof G. Pingarron, Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), e il Prof J. Wang, The Regents of the University of California, U.C. San Diego (USA).
ESPERIENZA PROFESSIONALE
Dal 1998 al 2000 lavora presso la raffineria di Gela (AGIP) nel settore remediation and prevention technology.
dal 2000 al 2004 lavora come tecnico laureato presso l'Università di Teramo nella sezione di Chimica, Biochimica e Biologia Molecolare del Prof. Cozzani.
Dal 2005 diventa ricercatore nel settore scientifico disciplinare Chim01/A "chimica analitica" presso l'Università di Teramo Facoltà di Agraria.
Dal 2006 al 2007 lavora con il gruppo del Prof Guilbault presso la University of Cork, (Ireland) come experienced researcher.
Dal 2009 al 2012 è Coordinatore di due progetti europei IRSES nell’ambito del Seventh European Framework Programme.
Nel 2013 M. Mascini consegue l'abilitazione scientifica nazionale a professore di II fascia nel settore concorsuale 03/A1.
Nel 2016 lavora come visiting researcher presso il gruppo del Prof. Joseph Wang (University of California San Diego, USA), e nel 2017 presso il gruppo della Prof. Sylvia Daunert (University of Miami, USA), sempre come visiting researcher.
Nel 2019 M. Mascini prende servizio come professore di II fascia SSD CHIM/01.
Nel 2022 M. Mascini consegue l’Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale alle funzioni di professore universitario di prima fascia nel Settore Concorsuale 03/A1 -CHIMICA ANALITICA.

L' area di ricerca riguarda lo sviluppo di metodi rapidi di screening per la determinazione di analiti di interesse alimentare ed ambientale, in particolare applicando nuove metodiche di molecular modeling per la razionalizzazione di trappole biomimetiche.

Research and scientific impact
Mascini has published more than 70 papers (60% as corresponding author) on international scientific journals (peer-reviewed) with an average Impact Factor of 4.
He actively participates in national and international scientific meetings with more than 100 posters or oral presentations
Mascini research area is focused on the development of screening methods for fast and real time detection of analytes important for food, environmental and health analysis. The research interests are on new methods to develop bioinspired and biomimetic systems in analytical application using molecular modeling and multivariate analysis.
