Nato a Bari il 20 dicembre 1960. Laureato in Medicina Veterinaria presso la Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria di Bari nel 1985. Diplomato in "Zooprofilassi" presso la Scuola per la Ricerca Scientifica di Brescia nel 1986. Ha frequentato i laboratori di Virologia e di Biologia Molecolare dell'Istituto Zooprofilattico di Brescia nel 1986. Dottore di Ricerca in "Parassitologia e Malattie Parassitarie" presso l'Università degli Studi di Bari nel 1989. Collaboratore Tecnico presso la cattedra di “Malattie Infettive degli Animali” dell'Università degli Studi di Bari dal 1990 al 1994. Ricercatore in "Malattie Infettive degli Animali" presso l'Università degli Studi di Teramo dal 1994. Ha frequentato l'Institut für Virologie der Tierärztlichen Hochschule di Hannover (Germania) nel 1996, lavorando sulla tipizzazione molecolare di ceppi di virus del cimurro del cane. Dall'a.a. 1997/98 è docente dei corsi di "Malattie Infettive, Profilassi e Polizia Veterinaria" e di "Malattie infettive, profilassi e polizia veterinaria degli animali da compagnia" presso l'Università degli Studi di Teramo. Nell'a.a. 1999/2000 è anche docente del corso di "Malattie Infettive degli animali da reddito" presso l'Università degli Studi di Teramo. Dall'a.a. 2002/2003 è professore ordinario di Malattie infettive degli animali presso la facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria di Teramo. Dall'a.a. 2003/2004 ad oggi è direttore della Scuola di Specializzazione in "Sanità animale, allevamento e produzioni zootecniche" istituita presso la Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria di Teramo. Da dicembre 2005 ad oggi è membro dell'Advisory Board on Cat Diseseas - Europe. Inoltre è membro del Comitato Regionale di Zooprofilassi istituito presso il Dipartimento Sanità della Regione Abruzzo. Coordinatore del dottorato di ricerca in “Epidemiologia e diagnostica avanzata in patologia comparata” attivato presso l’Università degli Studi di Teramo per i cicli XXI, XXII, XXIII e del dottorato in “Scienze mediche veterinarie, sanità pubblica e benessere animale” a partire dal ciclo XXIX ad oggi. Dal 2005 al 2013 Preside della Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria dell’Università degli Studi di Teramo. Dal 2010 al 2013 Coordinatore della Conferenza dei Presidi delle Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria italiane. Dal 2009 al 2013 Pro-Rettore Vicario dell’Università degli Studi di Teramo. Per il triennio 2016-2018 è stato membro della Commissione per l’Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale settore concorsuale 07/H3 - Malattie infettive e parassitarie degli animali. dal 2013 al 2019 è stato Coordinatore del Corso di Laurea in "Tutela e Benssere Animale" attivato presso la Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria di Teramo. Dal giugno 2016 ad oggi è membro del "Comitato Tecnico per la nutrizione e la sanità animale, Sezione Consultiva del Farmaco Veterinario" istituita presso il Ministero della Salute. Coordinatore del Progetto Scientifico "Demetra - Le interconnessioni tra medicina OneHealth e filiera animale sostenibilequali priorità per lo sviluppo ecosostenibile" nell’ambito del finanziamento MIUR – Dipartimenti di Eccellenza - 2018-2022, presso la Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria di Teramo.
Gli ambiti della ricerca riguardano l'eziologia, la patogenesi, la diagnosi e la profilassi delle malattie infettive dei carnivori e dei ruminanti. E' autore di oltre 130 lavori scientifici su riviste nazionali ed internazionali.
Fulvio Marsilio was born in Bari on 20 december 1960. He graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Bari in 1985. He got a diploma in "Prophylaxis in infectious diseases of animals" from the School for the Scientific Research at Brescia in 1986. In the same year he worked at the Virology and Molecular Biology Laboratories of the Istituto Zooprofilattico of Brescia. He has been graduate student from 1987 to 1988, receiving the Ph.D. in Veterinary Parasitology from University of Bari in 1989. From 1990 to 1994 he was with the Institute of Infectious Diseases of Animals of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Bari and from 1994 he is Researcher of Infectious Diseases of Animals at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Teramo. During november 1996 he attended the Institut für Virologie der Tierärztlichen Hochschule of Hannover (Germany), where he worked on the biomolecular typing of canine distemper virus strains. Now he teaches Infectious Diseases of Animals, Infectious Diseases of Pets and Infectious Diseases of Livestocks at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Teramo and he is full professor in Infectious diseases of animals and director of post-graduate school on Animal health,farming and production and the post-graduate school of Medicine and surgery of horse, both at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Teramo. From december 2005 to march 2013 he was Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Teramo. He is member of the European Advisory Board on Cat Diseases. Furthermore he is member of the Regional Board for Zooprophylaxis and of the Crisis Unity for Avian flu at the Veterinary Services of the Abruzzo Region. From november 2009 to march 2013 he was vice-Rector of the University of Teramo. From aprile 2013 he is the coordinator of the three-years degree on Animal welfare and protection. From June 2016 he is member of tne National Drug Commission at the Italian Ministry of Heath.
His research areas are the etiology, the pathogenesis, the diagnosis and prophylaxis of the infectious diseases of the carnivores and ruminants. He is author and/or co-author more than 130 scientific papers on italian and international journals.
